Romanian is a Romance language (derived from Latin). It is spoken by roughly 24 million people, in around 25 territories. As well as Romania, it is widely spoken in the Republic of Moldova, and is the official language there (although known as ‘Moldovan’). It is also spoken by more than 100,000 people in Ukraine, Israel, Serbia & Montenegro, Greece, Russia, the United States, and Hungary.
