The limits of my language mean the limits of my world. (Die Grenzen meiner Sprache bedeuten die Grenzen meiner Welt.)
Panjabi means ‘the language of the Punjab’, a state in northern India. There are roughly 96 million speakers, in at least 14 territories. The vast majority of these are in India and Pakistan, although Panjabi has no official status in Pakistan. There are also significant numbers of speakers in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The language is sometimes known in English as ‘Punjabi’, but this is generally accepted to be a mispronunciation of ‘Panjabi’
