This map shows the origins of asylum seeker in the world in 2018. The destinations are the territories their asylum request is processed.
The highest number of asylum-seekers in 2018 came to the USA (>700 000) , followed by Germany (>360 000.), Turkey (>310 000), Peru (>230 000) and South Africa (>180 000). These numbers put a light on the ongoing conflicts in Venezuela, Syria and Afghanistan.
According to UNHCR’s report: At the end of 2018, there were approximately 3.5 million people around the world waiting for a decision on their asylum claims.
