Governments can’t run bedrooms. Bedrooms run the world.
Hans Rosling, 2017
While India and China remain the countries where most children are born, both countries have a fertility rate around the global average of 2.5 children per woman, India slightly higher, China slightly lower. Out of the ten countries with the highest fertility rate, nine are on the African continent.
More children are born each year in Africa than are born in the Americas, all of Europe and Japan put together. In territories with the fewest births per person, more people are dying than are being born. As with all population statistics, even this vital one, figures are rough estimates.
