Guinea pigs – small livestock with big potential
Rodents as livestock are only reported by the FAO from two countries: Peru and Bolivia, in both cases guinea pigs. They originate in the Andes and have played traditionally an important role as a food source and in traditional medicine.
They are undemanding animals which don’t require high maintenance or big investments.
