Plants are more courageous than almost all human beings: an orange tree would rather die than produce lemons, whereas instead of dying the average person would rather be someone they are not.
India is leading the mango production with more than 18 million tons, followed by China (4.6 mio), Thailand (3.4 mio), Mexico and Indonesia. Pakistan, Brazil, Egypt, Bangladesh and Nigeria complete the top 10.
Native to Southeast Asia and India, the mango is one of the most widely consumed fresh fruit in the world. Cultivated for over 6,000 years, the mango comes in over 50 varieties, ranging in colour from greenish, yellowish, to reddish, often tinged with purple, pink, orange-yellow, or red.
