The 21st century is going to be the American century. Because we lead not only by example of our power, but by the power of our example. That is the history of the journey of Americans.
Joe Biden speaking at the Democratic National Convention (27 July 2016)
Of the over 2,500 tweets that Joe Biden has tweeted over the presidential account since he became president, slightly less than half (1,213) made references to other countries by the end of 2023. The United States of America were excluded from this analysis, so that the USA disappear from this map.
The cartogram provides a picture of which countries appear to have be most prominent in Joe Biden’s foreign policy in that period, as his presidential account appeared overall more carefully curated than that of his predecessor. By the end of 2023, a total of 85 countries were mentioned at least once.
The top countries in his tweets from 2021 to 2023 were:
Ukraine, 19 per cent (228 tweets)
Russia, 17 per cent (204 tweets)
North Korea, 6 per cent (78 tweets)
Mexico, 6 per cent (74 tweets)
Japan, 4 per cent (49 tweets)
South Korea, 4 per cent (49 tweets)
